To kick off our Q3 with a bang, we've focused on integrating the REST API functionality into Grid, making all your data transfers faster and smoother than ever. To continue empowering our users with speed, you can now edit bulk data in an instant. We've also added some exciting features in the Dashboards section for a smarter analytical experience.
New Features
Transfer Data lightning fast via REST API
The REST API integration is finally here! You can now access, transfer and synchronize data between Grid and other web services in a state-of-the-art style. The REST API Integration essentially works at the worksheet level. There are two primary components to this functionality: Push Data and Pull Data. Push Data, as the name suggests, involves sending data from the worksheets present in Grid to another server or service.
Pull Data is exactly the opposite and it involves sending data from another server to store it into Grid's worksheets. You don't have to manually enter data into Grid anymore, as with a few clicks all your JSON files would be transferred into the data tables in Grid. But please ensure that the data to be transferred needs to be tabulated in the same manner as your Grid worksheets. You can even schedule the Pull Data configuration on a recurring basis, for example, every day at 12 PM, thus saving you the hassle of setting it up every time.
Bulk Edit 1000s of rows within a minute
The much-awaited Bulk Edit feature now has now been fully integrated into the View Page for users to edit thousands of rows across multiple columns with speed and ease. Due to the nature of data input in some columns, the Bulk Edit feature is not applicable to them. This includes columns with dependencies or the ones that have an auto-fill option, like Image, Location, Network Strength, etc.
Users can apply the Bulk Edit feature on columns that have value-based inputs, dropdowns, actions, etc. An important thing to keep in mind is that the 'Bulk Edit' option is only accessible to admins or users with permissions. You can't also bulk edit columns that have unique column types like QR codes or links to child worksheets as bulk changes to these would completely disrupt the unique data.
Webhooks
We've got a little surprise as a bonus with the REST API Integration! Webhooks are now part of the PUSH data connector in your REST API modal. With large amounts of data, users can now trigger webhooks for each row. Enter the required configuration in the form, and enjoy seamless transfer.
Custom Color for Charts
If you've ever wondered how reading charts could get easier and more accurate, then we've got a new 'Custom Colors' option just for you. Users can now assign different color schemes to categories within the data, for all the widgets (except Strip log and Pivot) on their dashboards. The markers on the Map widget, you guessed it, also get custom colors so as to categorize locations.
Line Chart within Bar Chart
For users looking to compare different types of data, we now have Line Chart and Bar Chart teaming up to give you that extra edge. All you need to do is to choose a second aggregation when editing the bar chart. In an instant, a line graph appears on top of the bar graph.
Dashboard Widget Full Screen
Nobody likes a cluttered dashboard, especially when you wish to focus completely on a specific thing. To solve this, all the widgets now maximize to full-screen, so you can focus on nothing but the specific chart you want to look at.
Full Screen on View Page
In order to improve the user experience, we've built a feature that lets tables in the View Page expand to full screen. No menus, no headers, nothing else in sight, except for the rows and columns.
Idle Screen Logout
At Grid, security is just as important as speed. This is a small but essential feature that automatically logs you out if your app screen is left idle for 20 minutes.
